Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection contains materials pertaining to the organization and staffing of the 46th General Hospital, accelerated program and curriculum for medical students and refresher courses for returning military medical personnel. The bulk of the materials are dated 1940-1942. Materials consist of correspondence and memorandum between the UOMS Deans office and Hospital Administration, the War Department, Office of the Surgeon General and various military personnel and physicians. Included are rosters of officers, active and reserve personnel, reports, requests for assignments and transfers, assignments, deferments, commissions, recommendations, commendations, 2 photographs and news clippings. There is no apparent chronological order and only a very loose subject order but the original organization of materials was maintained. Materials were removed from the original folders and staples and paper clips were removed during processing. Included with the finding aid is a collection inventory.
