Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Erickson Family collection houses the personal papers of three generations of health science professionals, Charles A. Erickson, Russell Erickson, Jr., and Russell Erickson, III. This collection which dates from 1906 to 1994, consists of student notebooks, doctor’s notes, journals, photographs, drawings and sketches, school ephemera, news clippings, a painting, and various medical artifacts contained within a doctor’s bag evidencing almost 100 years of medical training and practice within one family.

Because this collection documents almost a century of medical life within one family, it evidences a fascinating look at the changing ways in academic life through the early to mid-20th century. While not large, the detailed notes and journals as well as various school ephemera paint a vivid picture of these three medical professionals’ lives both during and after their schooling.
