UOSN "Requirements for Written Work Submitted by Students in Basic Program", undated
Scope and Contents
The Philip M. Hostetler papers house the personal papers of Philip Monroe Hostetler. This collection which dates from 1964-1976 contains photographs, newspaper clippings, correspondence, programs, University of Oregon School of Nursing (UOSN) course information, and ephemera evidencing the early integration of men into the nation’s nursing programs.
This collection showcases a transitional period of UOSN, when much of the material and correspondence surrounding the program was directed exclusively towards women. The accompanying articles and letters are a vivid look into the now outdated societal concepts involving the nursing profession and its practitioners. For those researchers examining gender concepts in the workplace and the burgeoning diversity of nursing programs in the mid-20th century, these artifacts are of great value.
