Historical Note

There is no known information regarding the physician who kept these records or who donated the ledger. The only available biographical information related to those mentioned in the collection is for that of Frank M. Bell- the collection contains a receipt of payment addressed to a F. M. Bell, M.D. of Kelso, Washington. According to the Medical Register of Oregon, issued by the State Medical Board on April 1, 1898, Frank M. Bell of Kelso, Washington, graduated from the Miami Medical College in March of 1883. He was licensed May 29, 1883, and licensed in Oregon on March 30, 1895. None of the other physicians named in the ledger are listed in the Medical Register.
