The collection primarily consists of stenographic records of lectures given by the officers of the 46th General Hospital at Fort Riley, Kansas in fall 1942. Also present are newspaper articles with group pictures and names of staff, and photographic negatives of group pictures of staff.

Biographical Note
Donald Devlin, born in Shelby, Montana in 1914, graduated from Oregon State University and was trained as a stenographer. He enlisted with the 46th General Hospital in Portland, Oregon, and transferred to Fort Riley, Kansas, to serve as a military stenographer. Devlin continued to serve with the 46th General Hospital in Algeria, France, and Italy, reporting military court martials and civilian trials, until the end of the war. He then returned to Oregon, and his previous employer, the Oregon Public Utility Commission. Later he switched to court reporting, where he was employed both in Portland and in Bend, Oregon.

Abstract

Also present are newspaper articles with group pictures and names of staff, and photographic negatives of group pictures of staff collected by Don Devlin, who served as stenographer for the University of Oregon Medical School, 46th General Hospital.

Original items were accumulated by Don Devlin. Copies were made and on October 9, 1998, the originals were returned by Joan Ash of the Oral History Program at OHSU, to Mary Devlin, the daughter of Don Devlin.
