Abstract
Clarice Ashworth Francone studied at the Art Insitutute of Chicago and later studied medical illustration under Max Broedel at Johns Hopkins University. Ashworth moved to Oregon in 1929 and worked as a freelance illustrator. In 1936, she started working part-time at the University of Oregon Medical School, eventually becoming the head of the Medical Illustration Department.
