46th General Hospital records
In March of 1940 the Surgeon General of the United States Army requested the reactivation of the 46th General Hospital. The unit was actived on July 15. The papers consist of memoranda, correspondance, reports, rosters and documents covering the years 1940-1942.
Alpha Epsilon Iota collection
These records document the activities of the local chapter of Alpha Epsilon Iota, a national women's medical sorority.
J. Peter Bentley Faculty Senate papers
J.Peter Bentley was trained in England as a biochemist before coming to the U.S. to do wound healing research at Harvard. He continued this in Oregon after getting his Ph.D. at University of Oregon Medical School. Also known as a student mentor and Assistant Dean of Planning, he was picked in 1976 to lead a study group on creating a Faculty Senate. These related files were donated in 1998.
Milton deVries Brunkow papers
The Brunkow collection contains a wealth of material including not only his class notes from his pre-med classes at Reed College, but also his courses at the University of Oregon Medical School. They are accompanied by much of his private practice case files.
Charles Conrad Carter papers
Dr. Charles Conrad Carter was a 1948 graduate of University of Oregon Medical School (UOMS) and long-time faculty member of the Neurology Department. He has collected a variety of materials, mostly relating to student days and collected at class reunions in 1988 and 1998.
George E. Chamberlain papers
George Chamberlain graduated University of Oregon (1936) and University of Oregon Medical School (1938) and became an otolaryngologist. The collection consists of a paper on diagnosis and treatment of Otosclerosis, including pictures of instruments used in the operation and negatives of the operation itself.
Child Study Clinic records
The materials in this collection originated with the Child Growth Study completed by principal investigator Bhim Sen Savara, M.S., D.M.D., et. al, during the period of 1949-1986.
Colonel Strohm's nurses photograph album
Dr. J. Guy Strohm was an early organizer of the 46th General Hospital and served in North Africa (Oran) and France (Besancon) as commanding officer of the hospital. Images in this collection are of soldiers, nurses, and hospital personnel under Strohm's command at the 46th General Hospital 46.
George Horace Coshow class notebooks
George Horace Coshow was a 1930 graduate of the University of Oregon Medical School. This collection contains class notebooks from 1926 to 1928.
Irene and Hugh Currin papers
Irene and Hugh Currin served abroad together as nurse and doctor, respectively, with the 46th General Hospital from Portland during World War II in both North Africa and France. This collection contains military documentation, photographs, postcards, memoirs and obituary, diaries, World War II era ephemera from their tours, newspaper clippings, and letters detailing their story.
