Robert Stone Dow papers

Abstract

The genesis of neurological sciences research in the Pacific Northwest is detailed in this collection. Dr. Robert Stone Dow (1908-95) was locally educated at Linfield College (BA 1929), and University of Oregon Medical School (M.A., M.D., 1934; Ph.D., 1935). Mentored by Dr. Olaf Larsell he began his life's work in Neurology which resulted in the creation of the Neurological Sciences Institute (NSI).

Abstract Dietitians were one of the earliest health professions trained at the University of Oregon Medical School located on Marquam Hill in Portland, Oregon. The student dietitian training program began in 1930-31. Under the auspices of the Oregon Dietetic Association, the program was sponsored by Portland area hospitals, including Multnomah County Hospital and Doernbecher Memorial Hospital for Children.
