Dr. E. Murray Burns graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School (now Oregon Health & Science University) in 1931. He went on to complete residencies in neuropsychiatry at Wisconsin General Hospital and in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 1941, he joined the 46th General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Laurence Selling (1882-1964) was a neurologist and lecturer, he was the Clinical Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department at the University of Oregon Medical School (UOMS), enlisted with the UOMS Unit in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for World War I, and one of the founders of the downtown Portland Clinic.
