Historical Note
The Pacific Northwest Medical Association was founded in the summer of 1922 in an attempt to knit together the medical communities of 5 American states and 3 Canadian provinces. Oregonians had their due representation. In the period under discussion 3 Oregonians served as President of the Association: J. Earl Else of Portland (1923), Charles T. Sweeney of Medford (1936), and Matthew Riddle of Portland (1942). Others participated in the meetings.
