Scope and Contents
The material consists of a large book, 12” x 19”, bound in an untitled cardboard cover. It is arranged chronologically from 1891 May 31 tos 1901 June 14. The information is arranged in columns that contain the date of death, name of person, age, place of death, cause of death, name of undertaker and remarks, which include cemetery, place of nativity, race and whether the coroner was called. In many cases there are no remarks given. The bulk of “place of death” is either in or in close proximity to Portland, Oregon.

Abstract
This ledger covers a decade of deaths in and around Portland, Oregon, from 1891 to 1901, and includes details on cause, name, dates, place of death, undertaker, and cemetery.
Acquisition Information
D. K. Taylor M.D. donated the materials, which he had received from an unknown patient who found them in an attic. They were transferred to the University of Oregon Medical School in 1963 January 14. The OHSU Library Special Collections staff processed them August 2001.
