Physician's receipt record book
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of one single bound receipt ledger showing the collection of dues for an unidentified medical organization at an unspecified location from April 19, 1847 to June 31, 1853. It documents monthly dues, initiation fees, fines for refusing to sit up with the sick, withdrawals by card, and suspensions and expulsions due to non-payment of dues or violations of Article II of the constitution. Two page entries list doctors' names and dates.

There is no information regarding who created and/or kept this record book. Current thinking is that it does not refer to Oregonians at all. None of the names listed within have been mentioned in Larsell's "The Doctor in Oregon: A Medical History."

Acquisition Information
The record book was acquired years before accessioning. The actual acquisition date and source of the donation is unknown; however, there is information noted in a previous finding aid for the book that the collection is a gift from a Dr. [?] Bailey.
