Biographical / Historical

The North Pacific Pediatric Society is one of the oldest International Pediatric Associations in America. During a 1919 meeting of the Oregon State Medical Society, nine pediatricians from the Pacific Northwest met to hear a presentation from a prominent pediatrician from Minnesota. The meeting was so beneficial for the doctors that they decided to continue meeting informally and then annually. After several meetings and much organization, the formation of the Northwest Pediatric Society proceeded. Initial dues covered two meetings per year. Founding members included Doctors J.B. Bilderback, Jay I. Durand, Robert C. Hall, John B. Manning, Peter D. McCornack, Robert Scott Miles, C. Ulysses Moore, William F. Patrick, and James W. Rosenfeld. The society still meets twice annually, and holds conferences providing a forum for dissemination of ideas, and continuing medical education for all professionals who provide pediatric health care.
