Abstract

The Tacoma College of Dental Surgery moved to Portland in 1899 and, through many years of growth and change, eventually became today's OHSU School of Dentistry. The collection consists of images of the students, faculty, and staff; various locations on and off campus; equipment; and other assorted materials.

Wilbur Nelson Van Zile is known for his improvements and accomplishments in maxillofacial surgery. He served with the Navy Dental Corps during World War II, as Chief of Dental Services and Oral Surgeon at various Naval Hospitals, and as Professor and Chairman in the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Oregon Dental School.
