Abstract

The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) was founded at the 1970 Annual Session of the American Dental Association, created to mobilize and support dental students across the country. The ASDA Chapter Records consist of three scrapbooks from the school years 2000/2001, 2001/2002, and 2002/2003, created by the OHSU chapter of the organization, including brochures, newsletters, correspondence, photographs, and promotional advertisements from dental vendors.

Abstract Robert Leroy Anderson, D.M.D. was born in Baker, Oregon in 1924. He graduated from the University of Oregon Dental School in 1952. He maintained a dental practice in Portland, Oregon from 1952-1986. Dr. Anderson died on March 7, 2008. Abstract

Dr. Frank G. Everett (1907-1976) was born in Vienna, Austria, where he attended the Medical and Dental schools of the University of Vienna. He came to Portland, Oregon in 1939, attended the North Pacific College and the University of Oregon Medical School, and later served on the faculties of both the Dental and Medical Schools of UOMS. This collection, dating from 1932 to 1984, houses some of his research and scholarly output, including papers, photographic slides, and tissue slides.

The collection consists of materials related to the History of Dentistry committee and its establishment. It includes records on preparation and renovation of the History of Dentistry room and the move to the BICC, as well as information on alumni and a run of the newsletter Caementum.

Louis Terkla, D.D.S., initiated the sister school connection between OHSU and Hokkaido University's schools of dentistry in 1973 to give students the option to travel to each city to develop their dental education. This collection consists of gifts, correspondence, photos, certificates, and various items collected in the relationship between the two schools.

The individuals named likewise were not all affiliated with the University of Oregon or its various incarnations.

Dr. Herbert C. Miller, D.D.S., M.D., founded the North Pacific College of Dentistry in 1898. As president, he gave North Pacific College of Dentistry to the State of Oregon in 1945. The collection consists of personal papers and photographs and professional documents from Miller's career as an early dentist in the Pacific Northwest.

Abstract Horace M. Miller was born in Portland in 1892, the son of Herbert C. Miller, who was the founder and first President of North Pacific College of Oregon. Dr. Miller graduated Reed College 1917, North Pacific College of Oregon, served in WWI, taught Oral Surgery at University of Oregon School of Dentistry and served as secretary of faculty between the two world wars.
