Carl Julius Hoffmann lantern slide collection

Abstract

Carl Julius Hoffmann, M.D., graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School with the class of 1907 and served as the town doctor temporarily for LaCenter, Washington and permanently for Woodland, Washington for 62 years. The collection consists of 12 glass lantern slides of bone fractures originally created by Hoffmann.

Dr. Hoffmann was a Portland native and graduate of the University of Oregon Medical School, class of 1907, who served the community of Woodland, Washington for most of his career. The Carl Julius Hoffmann Scrapbook is a leather bound memorial book prepared by the community of Woodland, dedicated to Carl J. Hoffmann, M.D. for his 40 years of medical service.

Louis Terkla, D.D.S., initiated the sister school connection between OHSU and Hokkaido University's schools of dentistry in 1973 to give students the option to travel to each city to develop their dental education. Naida F. Hoffman Hurlburt served in the Nurse Army Corps during World War II in the 46th General Hospital. She was stationed in North Africa and Southern France and eanred the rank of 1st Lieutenant in 1945.
