Abstract

These papers document the history of the 46th General Base Hospital during World War II. Composed of the materials from three nurses active in the Base Hospital, the collection contains manuscripts, newspaper clippings, photographs, and photocopies of letters, lists, and other materials with the bulk being photocopies.

Kathryn D. Hilterbrant collection

Abstract

Kathryn D. Hilterbrant was a member of the 46th General Hospital during World War II and was stationed in North Africa and Southern France. Hilterbrant stayed with the Army Reserves to attain the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and worked as a nurse anesthetist at the Vancouver Memorial Hospital in Vancouver, Washington. The collections contains an American flag and a film reel.

Carl Julius Hoffmann, M.D., graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School with the class of 1907 and served as the town doctor temporarily for LaCenter, Washington and permanently for Woodland, Washington for 62 years. The collection consists of 12 glass lantern slides of bone fractures originally created by Hoffmann.

Carl Julius Hoffmann scrapbook

Abstract

Dr. Hoffmann was a Portland native and graduate of the University of Oregon Medical School, class of 1907, who served the community of Woodland, Washington for most of his career. The Carl Julius Hoffmann Scrapbook is a leather bound memorial book prepared by the community of Woodland, dedicated to Carl J. Hoffmann, M.D. for his 40 years of medical service.

Hokkaido University School of Dentistry "Sister School" collection

Louis Terkla, D.D.S., initiated the sister school connection between OHSU and Hokkaido University's schools of dentistry in 1973 to give students the option to travel to each city to develop their dental education.
