Abstract

David B. Mahler, Ph.D. (3 February 1923 – 2 August 2017) was a dental biomaterials scientist who was internationally recognized as the preeminent expert in dental amalgam. His papers include records of achievements and recognitions, as well as letters attesting to his contributions and high regard.

Dr. Herbert C. Miller, D.D.S., M.D., founded the North Pacific College of Dentistry in 1898. As president, he gave North Pacific College of Dentistry to the State of Oregon in 1945. The collection consists of personal papers and photographs and professional documents from Miller's career as an early dentist in the Pacific Northwest.

Abstract Horace M. Miller was born in Portland in 1892, the son of Herbert C. Miller, who was the founder and first President of North Pacific College of Oregon. Dr. Miller graduated Reed College 1917, North Pacific College of Oregon, served in WWI, taught Oral Surgery at University of Oregon School of Dentistry and served as secretary of faculty between the two world wars. Abstract

The OHSU Oral History Program records consist of notes, documentation, and correspondence surrounding the program, along with interview transcripts and recordings in a variety of formats. Most transcripts are available online in OHSU's Digital Collections.

OHSU launched the Board of Overseers and Trustees in 1979 with the purposes of understanding the complex nature of an academic health sciences center, building relationships with individuals and organizations in the private sector, and serving as advocates for the university. The records span 1976-1996 and consist of the files of individual board members as well as records related to the overarching activities of the board and other supporting documents.

The Tacoma College of Dental Surgery moved to Portland in 1899 and, through many years of growth and changed, eventually became today's OHSU School of Dentistry. The collection consists of records, minutes, correspondence, administrative documents, pictures, publications, curriculum and school materials and other materials related to teaching and work done in the OHSU School of Dentistry.
