Allan Robert McClary video collection
Scope and Contents
The materials consist of 1 SVHS videotape and 1 VHS videotape. The original SVHS tape was created by Allan R. McClary, M.D., and contains a compilation of photographs taken by McClary and colleagues J. C. Montgomery and Peter Vogal. In addition to black and white and color photographs, some of the images were obtained using kodachrome slides.
The photographs include images of the University of Oregon Medical School campus: building interiors and exteriors, campus grounds, faculty, medical and nursing students, laboratories and equipment, surgery, anatomy labs, animal dissections, dormitories, classes, and lectures. Images of students show individuals and groups both posed and candid in classes, studying, and participating in leisure activities. Many of the students and faculty are shown in military uniform. Also included are graduation photos as well as images from the class of 1946 reunion in 2001.
The tape contains no identifying captions. Music from the 1940s accompanies the images. The original donated SVHS videotape was reformatted to VHS during processing in order to make the materials more accessible.
