The collection consists of mostly lecture and class tickets for Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA, in the class years 1834 to 1836. Additionally, there are a couple pieces of correspondence from the same period.

Biographical note
George C. Harris (1811-1886) was born in Maryland. He served a preceptorship with a Hagerstown-area doctor prior to attending Jefferson Medical College (M.D., 1836). A Gold Rush doctor in California (1849). Later practiced in Springfield, Illinois and ran cattle in the Texas Panhandle until wiped out by a blizzard. Back to medicine in Missouri, until moving to Oregon and practicing in the Eugene area (1865-1881). He then moved to Pendleton. There he retired. He was buried in Dallas, OR (1886).

Abstract
This collection is from the school days of George C. Harris, M.D. (1811-1886), a Maryland-born doctor who eventually moved to Oregon and died in Dallas, Oregon. It reflects his student days at the Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia, PA.

The collection is arranged in 3 file folders according to type-class and lecture tickets, correspondence, and accession material.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Included in the collection was the envelope the materials were sent in, from F.T. Harris, M.D. Hotel Sorrento, Seattle Wa., to Oloff Larsell, M.D. faculty at University of Oregon medical School. Dated 1946. It is presumed that Dr. Harris was a family member.
