Scope and Contents

This collection holds an immense amount of information in a variety of print media. Newspaper articles, supplements and inserts, magazine articles, special reports, and ephemera are all included. These materials were housed in 33 large folios along with additional loose materials; they have been digitized and are available eletronically.

Historical note

These folios began as a project of the Public Affairs Office under Joseph J. Adams. Adams was born in Spokane, Washington in 1925. He graduated from Gonzaga University in 1949 and began a career in higher education administration. He began working for the University of Oregon Medical School in 1951, holding several administrative positions before becoming Vice President of Planning and Resource Development under President Lewis Bluemle.

Abstract

The office of University Relations & Public Affairs (URPA) and their previous incarnations have been collecting news articles for decades. This collection holds newspaper articles, supplements and inserts, magazine articles, special reports, and ephemera.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

These folios were pasted together by the staff of the offices which became ultimately known as University Relations and Public Affairs, over a period of decades.

  • Physical folios were deaccessioned in 2019 by Steve Duckworth.
