Scope and Contents
The collection includes a variety of materials relating to the family life as well as the working careers of the Edwards'. Land deeds, military records, personal correspondence, geneaologies, and family photographs share space with medical writings, business records, audiotapes, slides and computer disks.

Abstract
The family of M. Lowell Edwards (1898-1982) and his son Miles J. Edwards (1929-2006) have donated a variety of materials pertaining to their careers and longstanding ties with the Medical School. Lowell Edwards was internationally famous for his part in the invention of the Starr-Edwards Heart Valve. His son Miles graduated from UOMS (1956) and made a career in Pulmonary Medicine there, including department head (1970-83). After retiring in 1991 he made a second career as a medical ethicist at the Center for Ethics in Health Care.

The collection has been serialized in sections on family and individual files, general subject files, school yearbooks, audiovisual materials, and artifacts.
