Abstract Dr. E. Murray Burns graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School (now Oregon Health & Science University) in 1931. He went on to complete residencies in neuropsychiatry at Wisconsin General Hospital and in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Abstract

Dr. J. Guy Strohm was an early organizer of the 46th General Hospital and served in North Africa (Oran) and France (Besancon) as commanding officer of the hospital. Images in this collection are of soldiers, nurses, and hospital personnel under Strohm's command at the 46th General Hospital 46.

Abstract

Naida F. Hoffman Hurlburt served in the Nurse Army Corps during World War II in the 46th General Hospital. She was stationed in North Africa and Southern France and eanred the rank of 1st Lieutenant in 1945. This collection consists of items collected during her time abroad, as well as memorabilia, photographs and ephemera.

Abstract

Leon Ray was a dermatoligoist and graduate of the University of Oregon Medical School. His wife, Barbara, attended both Reed College and the University of Oregon. Both contributed to the creation of this scrapbook which documents the deployment of the 46th General Hospital, U.S. Army, from 1942 to 1945, including locations in Kansas, Algeria, and France.
