Casey Bush collection on Robert S. Dow

Abstract Dr. Robert S. Dow established the first EEG laboratory in the Pacific Northwest and the first neurology practice in Oregon. He served as the Head of the Department of Neurology at Good Samaritan Hospital where he developed a treatment for epilepsy through electrical stimulation to the cerebellum. George Chamberlain graduated University of Oregon (1936) and University of Oregon Medical School (1938) and became an otolaryngologist. Jack Clinton spent nearly 60 years at OHSU School of Dentistry. In 1964 he began serving as an instructor, and from 2004 to 2012, served as the of Dean of the School of Dentistry. The collection represents the years from 1961 to 2004 and includes policies and manuals, pamphlets, memoranda, faculty rosters and phone lists, certificates, licenses, awards, and educational resources. A significant topic in the collection is the standardization of dental practice and of dental education.

Dr. Reid "Sam" Connell is a graduate of Oregon State University and the University of Oregon Medical School, with a master’s in anatomy and a doctorate in medicine. As an instructor at OHSU, he taught anatomy, embryology, histology, and neurology as well as overseeing the allied health programs after his retirement. His research focused primarily on enabling those with broken spinal cords to regain function of limbs below the break.
