Quenten Scherman papers
Scope and Contents
The papers consist of one 8x10 black and white photographic print of Scherman and other physicians at a Medical Convention in the 1950s, a program for Scherman's memorial following his passing, and a small booklet regarding women's reproductive health and marriage, titled "The Married Lady’s Companion, or Poor Man’s Friend," written by Samuel K. Jennings and published in 1808.

Biographical Note
Quenten Scherman, M.D., was born on August 9, 1919. He graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1945 and became a clinical instructor of obstetrics at the UOMS in the early 1950s. Scherman served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He also completed his residency in the early 1950s at Holy Infant Hospital in Hoven, South Dakota. He went by the nicknames "Q' and "Scherm." Scherman passed away on August 27, 2003.

Abstract

The Quenten Scherman Papers consists of one photographic print featuring Scherman, a program for Scherman's memorial, and a small booklet regarding women's reproductive health and marriage published in 1808.
Acquisition Information
Randy Scherman, son of Dr. Quenten Scherman, and Randy's wife Beth Scherman, donated the papers to the archives. The original donation was accessioned by Archivist Karen Peterson on October 03, 2013. An accrual consisting of medical artifacts, separated into its own collection and placed in the Medical Museum, and a small booklet by Samuel Jennings, was added to the collection in 2014, accessioned by Archivist Karen Peterson on February 12, 2014.
Separated Materials
Medical artifacts donated in 2014 were separated into their own collection under the title Quenten Scherman Medical Artifact Collection, Accession Number 2013-12.121. They are housed within the Medical Museum Collection.
