Established in 1976, the Nurse-Midwifery Program at OHSU enables nursing students to become certified in midwifery while earning their masters. This collection, originating from program founder Carol Howe, consists of records on Howe herself, the Midwives of Color Committee, ethics and liability concerns, educational courses, and grant opportunities, among other topics. Founded in 1976, the OHSU School of Nursing Nurse-Midwifery Program enables students earning a master's degree in nursing to also become certified in nurse-midwifery. The Nurse-Midwifery Program Scrapbooks provide an inside look into the early days of the program, consisting primarily of photographs, pages from OHSU publications featuring program faculty, news clippings, program brochures, and ephemera originally housed within two scrapbooks compiled and kept by program faculty.
